Are We There Yet?

BY G.P. Avants

“Many sorrowed shall be to the wicked; but he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.”

                                                 Psalm 32:10

I’m sitting in the back seat

Bored out of my mind.

The dotted line is fuzzy.

The trees go whistling by.

I’ve read as much as I can read,

My game’s batteries are dead,

I lay my cheek on the glass

Try to sleep, but I won’t try.

This trip is taking longer

Than I thought.

Then the thought hits me

Is there really a destination?

Or am I just in a situation,

Watching endless tracks of road?

Are we there yet?

I question but I want to know

Is this the warm up,

Or the show?

Is it going to stop

Before I get too old?

Are we there yet?

I have to shake myself

To recall.

My pilot, my driver, my guide

Knows where we are going.

Though this life, this long road trip.

It’s not just a trip.

We have a destination

Not a confusing situation.

Don’t miss out for a wrong

Intuition in your unknown.

Position. Relax.

Thanks for your patience

And your lack of hesitation.

Are we there yet?

No, but soon, very soon.
