Dying in Obscurity

By G. P. Avants

“Anyone who has seen me, has seen the Father.”

                                                            John 14:9

S

One man

Who claimed to be God.

Died.

He is alone

Hanging between Heaven and Earth.

It’s quiet now but, something incredible happened.

This death has caused a chain reaction!

From this point in history

Backward and forward in time

All mankind on this tiny obscure planet

Have been saved from death.

Their lives from this point forward will change.

No matter where they stand on the timeline.

It’s a step of faith

That will heal the ravages of sin

On this obscure world.

This tiny world will be renewed

And made able to rejoin the harmony of the heavens.

This ignored planet was the place

That was lost among the other planets in its system

No more.

This tiny system is no longer lost among the arms

Of the Milky Way but, shines like a jewel.

This jewel is what makes this minor galaxy

Worth more than the other more spectacular ones in the heavens.

Up through the expanse of the unknown

Comes the little know people of the tiny earth.

Their savior redeemed the race of man

Back to their place as the children of God

Made in His image.

No longer obscure

Thanks to the man, Jesus Christ

God in the flesh.

Eternity and obscurity

Reign on the earth;

Now the very center of God’s Creation!

Because of one very special “obscure” man.

One man.

  1. Praise God for his indescribable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15)! Praise Jesus Christ for becoming obedient to death–even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8)–for us! And praise Holy Spirit who brought about our adoption as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father (Romans 8:14-16)! It’s our steps of faith into these truths that begin to heal the ravages of sin within each of us, as you’ve expressed here in your insightful poem! Thank you, Gary!
